Evidence and source limits
The FDA-hosted Desmoda label revised February 2026 describes desmopressin acetate oral solution as a vasopressin analog for central diabetes insipidus in adults and pediatric patients. It states that this product is not indicated for nephrogenic diabetes insipidus.
The label warns that excessive fluid intake during its antidiuretic effect can lead to water intoxication and hyponatremia. It also lists renal-impairment and hyponatremia contraindications, and warnings about fluid retention and severe hypersensitivity. This is not a complete safety summary.
Do not transfer this oral-product indication or safety information to every nasal, injectable or compounded product with the same ingredient name. This note does not provide fluid-management instructions, a dose or a treatment recommendation.
