Semaglutide

Wegovy injection and tablets have different labeled populations and indications.

Do not combine every semaglutide claim.

The current FDA Wegovy label covers both injection and tablets. Both include adult weight-management and cardiovascular-risk indications in specified populations. The injection also includes certain patients aged 12 and older with obesity and an adult MASH liver-disease indication. Those statements must not be extended to every semaglutide product or route.

The MASH indication concerns noncirrhotic disease with moderate to advanced fibrosis and uses accelerated approval. The label says continued approval may depend on confirming clinical benefit. It does not establish approval for all liver disease or for Wegovy tablets in MASH.

The label carries a thyroid C-cell tumor boxed warning and other important risks. FDA-approved products and compounded semaglutide are not interchangeable regulatory categories: compounded drugs do not undergo FDA approval review.
