Tirzepatide
Zepbound has specific weight-management and sleep-apnea indications. Compounded versions are separate.
Approval belongs to the product and indication.
The FDA label revised in August 2026 identifies Zepbound as a GIP and GLP-1 receptor agonist. Its indications include long-term weight reduction in adults with obesity, or overweight with a weight-related condition, and treatment of moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea in adults with obesity. These indications are in combination with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.
The label carries a boxed warning about thyroid C-cell tumors seen in rats; whether these occur in humans is unknown. It also lists contraindications and important risks, including severe gastrointestinal reactions and pancreatitis. This is not the complete safety information.
Approval of Zepbound is not approval of every product described as tirzepatide. FDA says compounded GLP-1 drugs are not FDA approved and are not reviewed for safety, effectiveness or quality before marketing. No dose or treatment recommendation is provided here.
