HRT for women: menopausal hormone therapy context
Product-specific menopausal hormone information, not a blanket safety or treatment claim.
FDA identifies menopausal hormone therapies used for symptoms such as moderate-to-severe hot flashes and vaginal dryness or discomfort, and for certain bone-loss indications. The exact product label and route matter.
On February 12, 2026, FDA announced labeling changes for a first batch of six menopausal hormone therapy products. Risk statements about cardiovascular disease, breast cancer and probable dementia were removed from their boxed warnings. This specific announcement is not proof that every hormone product has identical labeling or no risks.
The agency distinguishes systemic combination therapy, systemic estrogen alone, systemic progestogen for women with a uterus using systemic estrogen, and topical vaginal estrogen. Do not collapse these categories into a single wellness claim.
Ask the treating clinician about the intended symptom or diagnosis, product and route, your individual history, the current label, alternatives and monitoring. This guide does not recommend a drug or interpret a compounded preparation as equivalent to an approved product.
